945 Galectin-12 Regulates the Immune Response in Skin Through Sebaceous Glands

چکیده

Sebaceous glands are holocrine that helps maintain the skin barrier function by producing sebum, but also known to exert immunomodulatory effects. Through immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and immunoblotting, we found sebocytes expressed interleukin (IL)-4 receptor responded IL-4 produce high levels of CCL26, among other inflammatory mediators. Galectin-12 is a lipogenic factor in adipocytes resides intracellularly. Using galectin-12-knockdown (KD) epidermis-specific galectin-12 conditional knockout (cKO) mice, showed critical for IL-4-induced CCL26 expression. Moreover, using qPCR immunoblot analyses, induced PPARγ expression induction was dose-dependently ameliorated antagonist. Here, lower KD KO sebaceous glands. By gene ontology (GO) analysis, set ER stress-response genes significantly upregulated sebocytes. Treatment with pharmaceutical inducers stress suppressed IL-4, suggesting activation impairs signaling Thus, may promote response through suppressing stress. Finally, intradermal injection increased gland size leukocyte infiltrations, these responses were cKO mice. Similarly, mouse exhibited less prominent atopic dermatitis-like phenotype epicutaneous sensitization ovalbumin. identified regulatory role its effects on We propose promotes development Th2-mediated diseases, including dermatitis, mechanisms.

Galectin-3 regulates the innate immune response of human monocytes.

Galectin-3 is a β-galactoside-binding lectin widely expressed on epithelial and hematopoietic cells, and its expression is frequently associated with a poor prognosis in cancer. Because it has not been well-studied in human infectious disease, we examined galectin-3 expression in mycobacterial infection by studying leprosy, an intracellular infection caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Galectin-3 w...

Sebaceous Glands and Experimental Skin Carcinogenesis in Mice*

The fluorescence microscopic study (5) ot~ the absorption by mouse skin of methylcholanthrene in benzene has shown that a large portion of the carcinogen goes immediately to the sebaceous glands, where it is found dissolved in the lipid droplets within /he gland cells. Another portion is absorbed by the keratinized layer of the epidermal epithelium, where it is dissolved in the free intracellul...

TGFβ signaling regulates lipogenesis in human sebaceous glands cells

BACKGROUND Sebaceous glands are components of the skin essential for its normal lubrication by the production of sebum. This contributes to skin health and more importantly is crucial for the skin barrier function. A mechanistic understanding of sebaceous gland cells growth and differentiation has lagged behind that for keratinocytes, partly because of a lack of an in vitro model that can be us...

Sebaceous glands in the esophagus.

We report a case of sebaceous glands in the esophagus diagnosed by endoscopic biopsy. The patient was a 47-year-old Korean man presented with postprandial pain of several months duration. An endoscopic examination disclosed an early gastric carcinoma in the gastric antrum and a 0.4 x 0.4 cm sized irregular lobulated nodule in the middle esophagus. Microscopically, the lobule was proven to be se...

Histology and cytochemistry of human skin. VIII. Mitochondria in the sebaceous glands.

Mitochondria are not difficult to demonstrate in sebaceous cells. Yet, they are only briefly described in the literature. Nicholas et al (4) believed that mitochondria in sebaceous cells undergo a direct transformation into lipid droplets. In the sebaceous glands of the mouse the mitochondria are said to increase in number at the beginning of lipid storage, to decrease during sebaceous transfor...
